The Phoenix Canariensis is a feather palm with beautiful long leaves. When the plant grows larger, the leaves can grow up to 5 meters long. The Phoenix has a fairly thick trunk. It takes a long time for the trunk to grow taller. With its long leaves, it is an impressive palm tree that can easily be kept in our region. This palm is winter hardy to about -5 degrees. We therefore recommend keeping this species in a pot and placing it indoors during the winter. On the terrace, this palm will provide a wonderful holiday feeling.

Plant in pot or open ground
It is advisable to place the palm in a large tub. In this way, the palm can be placed in the garden house or garage during frost. When planting, a mixture of potting soil and dried cow manure granules can be used. In a pot or tub, the palms have no opportunity to find their own food. That is why it is important to add some extra cow manure granules to the soil every year.

It is possible to place the Phoenix Canariensis in the open ground. Some people know how to help the Phoenix through the Dutch winters. For this it is important that the plant is properly wrapped during frost. In case of prolonged severe winters, a heating element can be added.
